All Grown Up

Sat Mar 4, 2006, 8:24 PM
Wow, it really has been a long time since I visited this place *hugs everybody*. So much has happened and changed since the last time that I wrote a journal entry here that it's actually disturbing. To summarise: I finished school and got a place at university where I'm currently half way through a Creative Writing degree - a course that I love to bits! At the moment I'm living in a sharehouse which is fun, especially since my housemates are all artists. I'm also working as a full time waitress in a pizza restaurant, which I loathe, but it pays for everything that I need (and a good few things that I don't) so I'm gritting my teeth until I find something else. I'm planning on uploading a lot of my writing here, mainly because I never really got into putting art up here (hence the single blank picture). I think that's everything, except to say that everyone's work looks even more fantastic than it did before and I'm very jealous!

At least your not going to die in a couple of days. I washed a small spider down my drain a couple of days ago. When I turned, I found it flailing madly in the raging currents, so I quickly turned off the tap and was just about to grab it when it was abruptly sucked down the drain. It was very sad. I waited a couple of minutes to see if maybe it'd climb back up, but alas, it was lost.
Sigh. Not really any reason to telling you this. Just slightly related. Thought I'd share...
Anyways, thanks for your stalking of me. I like your first picture, but I'll comment on it in a couple o' minutes.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, after you commented on my gallery. Bye! Take care.

It's nice when you go to the store to buy some wafers and you see a friend.

I was sitting at my desk yesterday afternoon trying desperately to brainstorm for my English Literature coursework essay which is slowly and painfully killing me at the moment, with all that I have to do for it ontop of everything else. Lack of any original thoughts made me look out of the window where I saw one of those little spiders that you sometimes get on cars on the other side of the glass trying desperately for all it was worth to make it up what seemed to me to be a very thin and precarious piece of web. This in itself is not unusual as there have to be dozens of spiders that I've watched do the same trick. No, it was more the way that whenever it fell down a little it kept on climbing, no matter how many times that it fell. I'm only writing about this because I'm taking it as inspiration for my own life. That doesn't mean that I necessarily want to eat flies as I find this idea rather revolting although having said that I'm a firm believer in not dismissing a dish until you've tried it! I think that it has more to do with the fact that I'm facing an uphill struggle at this point in my life what with work and everything else that I have to contend with and if a spider can make well then so can I. This thought has actually made me feel a tiny bit better and I now have the courage to grab the bull by the horns as it were, handle what I've been putting off and make up my mind about the future. Strange what one little creature can make you do and feel isn't it?

wow, that's a really great story. spiders are awesome to watch, as long as they're on the other side of the glass. :)
